How embedding works

Each widget is a hosted page at /embed/{calculator}/ on calcsystems.com. The snippet you copy above is a standard HTML <iframe> pointing at that URL. It loads on demand (loading="lazy"), runs only its own JavaScript, and is sandboxed by the browser from your site's content.

The embed includes a small attribution link back to the full CalcSystems calculator page — that's the only condition for using these widgets for free, on any site, commercial or non-commercial.

Privacy & data — what runs inside the iframe

Embedding code that runs on your visitors' browsers is a real trust decision. Here's exactly what the CalcSystems embed does and doesn't do, so you can verify before you ship it.

  • Calculation is fully client-side. Every number a visitor types — salary, mortgage details, savings goals — is processed in their own browser by the calculator's JavaScript. Form values are never sent to CalcSystems, your server, or any third party.
  • Google Analytics is loaded for anonymous usage telemetry. The embed runs GA4 (gtag) so we can see aggregate things like which calculators are used, how often the embed code is copied, and how many people click the attribution link. No form input values are ever captured — only standard GA pageview and click events.
  • No cookies are set on your site. Browser iframe isolation means any cookies the embed sets are scoped to calcsystems.com, not your domain. Your visitors' cookies on your site are not visible to the embed and vice-versa.
  • No popups, redirects, or surprise navigation. The only outbound link in the embed is the small attribution link to the full CalcSystems calculator page, and it opens in target="_top" only when clicked — never automatically.
  • Third-party requests are limited and transparent. The embed loads from calcsystems.com, plus Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com) and Google Analytics (googletagmanager.com). Nothing else.
  • You can verify all of this directly. Open /embed/cd-calculator/ (or any embed route), view source, and watch the DevTools network panel. The page is small enough to read end-to-end, and we'll never change that.

If you have a stricter Content Security Policy or want a no-analytics build of the embed, drop us a note via contact — we'll cooperate.

Where to paste the snippet

The snippet is a standard HTML <iframe>, so anywhere that accepts custom HTML accepts our embed.

  • WordPress (block editor): add a Custom HTML block and paste the snippet inside it. Switch to the Preview tab to confirm it loads.
  • WordPress (classic editor): switch from Visual to Text (HTML) mode and paste the snippet at the point in the article where you want the calculator.
  • Squarespace: add a Code block (Type: HTML), paste the snippet, and save.
  • Ghost: add an HTML card and paste the snippet.
  • Webflow: drop in an Embed element and paste the snippet.
  • Wix: use Add → Embed Code → Embed HTML and paste the snippet.
  • Substack & Medium: post bodies don't accept arbitrary iframes. Link directly to the full calculator page on calcsystems.com, or include a screenshot with the link as the caption.

After pasting, preview the post and confirm the calculator loads and you can interact with it. If your platform strips the snippet or wraps it in a way that breaks layout, contact us and we'll work out a fix.

Customizing the iframe

  • Width: defaults to 100% with a max-width: 760px. Edit the inline style to fit your layout.
  • Height: set per calculator above. The embed has no internal scrollbar — sized to fit common viewports.
  • Border & radius: the snippet uses a 1px gray border and 12px rounded corners. Replace the inline style if it doesn't match your design system.
